Keeping Your Wig Moisturized

Keeping Your Wig Moisturized

Your Freeda wig will be just like hair in every way possible. The biggest difference about keeping your wig healthy is that you must moisturize your wig. A wig does not have natural scalp oils to keep the hair moisturized regularly so it will need extra care.

Some factors that cause the human hair to lose its luster are lack of natural oils, exposure to sun, exposure to wind, pollution and various other elements. You can’t control all aspects but there is a lot you can do. The best care you can give your wig is to make sure the hair is moisturized.

Keeping the hair moisturized can be simple, quick and inexpensive.

Keep It Really Simple

Add one part water and one part of your favorite conditioner. This can be used all the time whenever you feel like your hair is dry.

DIY

A DIY leave in conditioner is a great idea for when your wig can use a boost. You can use this everyday – if needed, but you shouldn’t overdo it either. I like this DIY version because you can add the best oils based on the needs of your wig, as well as your favorite fragrances.

Coconut Oil– Good for strengthening hair, and reduces buildup. It helps the hair retain its natural protein. It’s good for finer hair.

Jojoba OilJojoba is rich in vitamins and minerals that nourish hair, including vitamin C, B vitamins, vitamin E, copper, and zinc. Because it strengthens hair, it will keep your wig looking lush and healthy looking.

Argon Oil– Argon is rich in vitamin E and fatty acids; it can help turn dry, coarser hair into softer and shinier hair. It will also help with fly away hairs and frizzing.

Macadamia Oil– Macadamia oil is best for very dry hair. It’s good to use after you’ve been in the sun for prolonged amounts of time or if you’ve used lots of heating tools on the hair.

Other oils that can be used are almond oil, olive oil, lavender oil and other essential oils. You can dilute the solution by adding water, for a lighter formula.  Your DIY hair conditioner will be completely chemical free. Keep this handy for anytime your hair needs a boost of hydration.
